FORR music festival in Mozambique

Show Date: 02/09/10

Venue: Parque de Malongane, Moçambique

Website: http://www.forr.co.za

After many hours of travel you finally arrive at the Kosi Bay border post. You are somewhat tired, but a tingle of excitement starts building as you see the sandy roads of Moçambique stretching out before you. After a drive of about 30 minutes on the winding sandy roads, you arrive at Parque de Malongane. You find a shady camping spot under the trees and quickly pitch your tent with the help of one of the local camp hands.

As soon as you are settled in, you decide to check out the local bar. You walk down to the dive camp area, past the makeshift stage and follow the music up the stairs. You are greeted by a sea of faces, most of whom have a red drink in hand. You walk up to the bar counter and Ben smoothly serves your own R&R (rum and raspberry). You turn around to take in the scenery. As you watch the waves gently break in the bay, you begin to understand why this is known as the most beautiful bar in the world.

Old friends come up to say hello. Some you have not seen in years, but it seems like yesterday when you had that fabulous time at the festival near Northam. Piet Botha walks in and greets everyone. He lights up his pipe and stares out over the ocean. The look on his face is one of true happiness, of someone who has come home. Everybody seems so friendly, and effortlessly you begin to relax. And suddenly you understand exactly why they call this The Fellowship of Rock & Roll.

Four days of scuba diving, scenic trips along the coastline or just chilling on the beach await you, while the best alternative bands entertain you each night. Man, this one’s going to be big!

FORR 2009 will be from 3 to 6 September and you can book online at http://www.forr.co.za/Bookings
