Im back home in Joburg after a month long tour through South Africa. Lize Wiid and I took to the road in our new tour mini van (as I like to call it!) and stopped off at many intimate and unusual venues. There are so many places that I dont know about and with every tour I feel like I have just uncovered a secret door to yet another place where music lovers gather to listen to music.
People were so kind to us on the road. There's nothing like arriving at a venue you haven't played before and meeting the people who keep music alive in small towns and big cities alike.
I must say that as good as it is to get on the road, its equally as good to get back home. I've taken the last two weeks to do pretty much very little! I've picked up my guitar, written to old friends and enjoyed my own bed. I've thrown out loads of old scraps of paper from last year (I seem to specialise in these) and uploaded my tour photos on to facebook. It only now feels like a new year and we're already almost in month 2!
I'm back on stage in February, and it will be wonderful to play again after this month long break.
Check out my brand new music video for 'Oh Brother'. This is the first track off my new album, 'Six Winters'.
Big thank you to the Open Window School of Communication in Pretoria- they shot the music video and it came out just the way I wanted it too. True Blood here we come!
Catch us at two of our favourite festivals in the next two months- Oppikoppi and FORR (Mozambique).
Oppikoppi: Sunday the 7th of August at 6pm on the acoustic stage
FORR: 1st-5th September (day and tme to be confirmed)
More festivals to be added soon!
See you there!
07/07/11: Standard Bank Ovation award for Grahamstown National arts festival!
I am so chuffed to share the news that Lize and I were given an ovation award for our performances at the Grahamstown national arts festival this year. Every year a panel of judges awards two to three artists from each of the fringe festival categories, and we were one of them!
Thank you to everyone who came to the shows and supported us- we had such a blast and cant wait to do it all over again at next year's festival.
Till July 2012!
